Ok, I have to confess: I have a weakness for tableware! It probably stems from loving to set up dinner tables for when we have friends and family over.

Since I am totally feeling the marble thang, I thought why not having plates with said look. So I went ahead and bought these dinner plates and paired them with these beautiful and handmade bowls that definitely complement some of the blue accents I have in my space (I will soon post a reveal!). To anchor them I added onyx mirrored chargers, which add a cool and glossy texture. In this predominantly cold palette, the gold and textured flatware stand out dramatically, which I absolutely love.

MINT IT, BABY!

I vividly remember my bedroom back in the 90’s. My sister and I shared bedrooms and we certainly never had a say, when it came to the decor. We had these ugly duckling wallpapers on the wall. Basically, those ducklings children play with during bath time. Yes, THAT ugly!

It was this medium sized room with yellow ducks all over the walls paired with sheer, pastel pink floor to ceiling drapes ( I now think those were actually nice!) and tons of dolls all over the place. The room certainly had no style nor definition, just a mess to sum it up.

A GOOD REASON TO REVAMP YOUR CLOSET

When you think of racks, it usually wouldn’t spark any inspiring images in your mind. But you may think differently once you see some of the unconventional direction these objects have taken. It doesn’t matter whether suspended or free-standing, both types seem to join this new wave of interior tendency. A cool new trend that is taking the design connaissances’ heart by storm! HOW NOT SPEAKING MY FIRST LANGUAGE AFFECTED MY PERSONALITY

I recently had a moment of realization when I had a brief flashback of how I was experiencing myself and my being back in Germany. I saw this vibrant and naturally funny young person who literally didn’t give two f****s about how her peers perceived her. That person was speaking German and was confidently, eloquently and creatively playing with words and using them in her own way, never abiding by the rules with which those words where intended to be used. In a way, she had her own way of expressing herself that people found interesting. Her inspiration stemmed from the fact that she was raised trilingual, speaking German, Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole, which broadened her horizons and the possibilities of how she could use words outside of their familiar context.

THE CLASSIC + WHITE REINVENTED

The black + white ensemble has been consistent with its popularity throughout the years and it seems like it’s not going away any time soon. The classic duo has been conquering the kitchens of the world slowly, but surely. What I have noticed as well is the simplicity and boldness in size and format of the cabinets – the bigger the better. Hardware is scarcely present and transforms these cabinets visually into built-in closets and makes the transition from the rest of the home more seamless and clean. The only features that give it away as a kitchen are the faucets and stoves and such.
