Continue ReadingIt’s been quite a challenging month between working on design projects, entertaining my 6-year-old and keeping up with life. There had been plenty of moments where I had considered having a drink for breakfast, which is actually a real thing in Germany (I swear! Look it up:: “Frühshoppen”).
For someone, who has an infatuation with tableware, I haven’t posted much about it. I actually enjoy shooting those as it is a fun and creative way to experiment with textures on a smaller scale. It’s an easy way of creating compositions that exude different moods while hoping to inspire others to have fun setting up a fun table.
First of all, I would like to share, I was never a big fan of sconces. I always associated sconces to be old fashioned and honestly didn’t pay them any mind. The trend dawned on me during the time I worked for West Elm. People were more keen on using sconces than table lamps, which were either due to lack of space in these ever so small Bostonian apartments or the client just preferred the look of a sconce. Living in this era where living spaces seem to get increasingly smaller, emphasizes how practical and essential these light fixtures can be.
A while ago I saw a merch display that featured all white vases and nick-nacks. Something about the serenity and pureness appealed to me and I immediately thought it could work well on the black hot rolled steel shelves in our dining room.
